May 25, 2004Ugly StepsisterI finished Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister this evening; after the gym, I decided to dinner at Subway and stayed there until I finished the book. Perhaps given the Dutch environment, the story was not as fantastical as Wicked, but Maguire's voice is fairly the same, although the book is not as evenly paced as the Oz book: a lot of poking around as the characters live their lives before the main Cinderella event, which takes place in a few chapters. The stepmother character reminds me of Elphaba in the Oz book: screechy. I would recommend Wicked over Ugly Stepsister: Although the former has its story jump around chronologically, the reader travels around more geographically and meets more diverse characters.

May 24, 2004passing clouds..Our bathroom window is rectangular and placed near the ceiling. I like having it open if I shower during the daytime an am able to see white puffy clouds float by. It's very peaceful. It must be like what other people have, with their bubble-bath jacuzzi-style tubs and large clear windows on their upper floors. Or skylight. I make do.

Ass SweaterIt's my day off and this morning, I turned on the radio to 97.3, Alice Radio, my usual commute-home radio station. (We're not to use streaming radio at work; eats up too much bandwidth). I usually don't listen to the Sarah and NoName show for my earlier morning commute - not on the same wavelength. But today they mentioned the "ass sweater": the usual top women can tie around their waist to cover their ass; done when a thin woman wants to add volume to their skinny ass or if the red tides come upon her unsuspectingly. I never knew there was a name for this thing...

May 03, 2004SnapshotSometimes at work, I finish my current task then I sit there, wondering what I should be doing next. At home, I'm one of those people who hardly ever finishes anything. And, at both locations, I have a variety of "projects" I could work on. At home, I started playing NWN again yesterday. I'm in Chapter 3 or 4, I forget which. I also still have to draw a pirate chicky pic for the AX Karaoke button, but I still haven't gotten any good ideas on how I want to do that; makes me think I might not be the best one for this job. At work, I've taken a look at Nucleus as a potential blog software candidate: it's free and looks okay, although version 3 sure is cluttered with their plug-ins. It's gonna take me a while to tear out all the things I don't like or don't think will be suitable for my unit then I'll have to try applying the stylesheet to it. I also tried mucking around with a contents view version of the ArcMap data menu. I actually got it to go in within a few hours! Thanks to the support forums. After I clean up this thing, hopefully I can release it into ArcScripts. I think I'm strumming the uke better, so I almost sound authentic! Almost! I owe some thanks to this book. One thing I took away with me from that spa experience was to get some lotion with SPF in it. I've ordered some Olay free sample to see if I like it. As for actual snapshots, I recently developed an APS film cartridge that had been sitting in my camera for a loooong time. I think the colors are a faded compared to what it would've been had it been fresher. That'll teach me. I also need more pages to insert into my album. Rather, I should just get a new album.
