One Man, One Shovel...

and a heck of a lot of snow.

This is the aftermath of a major snowstorm that hit New Jersey on the weekend of January 22-23, 2005. The total snowfall in my area was about eight to ten inches. It wasn't the worst snowfall that I've seen in New Providence, but it was significant because I had to clean the whole driveway on my own (my downstairs neighbor had been in Germany for the week, and was scheduled to return Sunday night. I hate to think of what the storm must have done to his travel plans).

Three hours of diligent shoveling produced the results shown below. (I wish I'd taken a picture of the driveway before I shoveled it, but using the camera only occurred to me after I was about halfway into the task.)

Shoveling the driveway is -- no fun, but...

Shoveler triumphant

I fought the snow and -- I WON!

I spent the rest of the day recovering indoors, making liberal use of a natural muscle relaxant known as "beer".
